Speaking to the group in Metaire, Magar was critical of certain media outlets and bloggers who have doubts about his campaign. “They say I don’t have enough money and basically I can’t win,” Magar told the 60 in attendance. “I only need about 8,000 votes to make the runoff. I don’t see a need to raise and spend half-a-million dollars to secure 8,000 votes.”

Magar’s message of fiscal responsibility has been resonating among TEA-Partiers across the district and Tuesday night was no different. Aside from the uproarious applause he received when broke out his Ross Perot-like charts, the crowd laughed heartily when he reminded them that he “just ran a whole Congressional campaign on 40 grand.”

“His message is well-received everywhere we’ve been in the district,” said campaign manager Travis Taylor. “To say that he is not a viable candidate is completely false. We have distributed nearly every yard sign we purchased and the ones that haven’t been stolen by a guy in a silver Mercedes are proudly displayed in the yards of our Republican supporters in the third district, not just in empty lots. Of course he’s viable.”

Magar was quick to point to the lack of released polling data as evidence of his viability. “Why do you think they haven’t released any polls?” Magar asked the crowd. “If they were that far in the lead, they’d be shouting from the rooftops. But they’re not. That tells you something right there.” But a lack of remaining campaign materials or polling data weren’t the only indicators of Magar’s support.

Following his speech, Magar held a town-hall-type forum, inviting the audience to ask him questions. A number of those questions began very similarly. “When you’re elected…”

“The task before us is not impossible. It’s not insurmountable. All we need is 8,000 votes. Can each of you find 10 votes? Take 10 people to the polls?” Magar challenged his newest supporters.

“We need to vote for the best candidate, not the candidate the media tells us is most likely to win,” Magar continued his criticism of the media. “As one of my supporters said on Facebook, ‘Vote as if your life depends on it. Because it does.’”

Magar encourages the people on the 3rd district to vote on conviction, not media reports biased by money. “It’s time to stop voting for the lesser of two evils. It’s time to be a part of the solution,” Magar said.

The GOP primary is Saturday. ###

Contact: Travis N.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NEW IBERIA, LA— With just under 3 weeks until the Republican primary election, Kristian Magar, Ph.D., Constitutional Conservative candidate for Louisiana’s 3rd Congressional District, has received the endorsement many have been expecting: the TEA party.

Magar, who has made his grassroots campaign about the People, received an endorsement today from the TEA Party of South Louisiana. The group’s members voted unanimously to confer upon Magar its public endorsement at their regular business meeting tonight in New Iberia.

“Kristian embraces and exhibits the ideals that we stand on,” said Ruben LeBlanc, the group’s co-founder and president, “adherence to the Constitution and fiscal conservatism.”

Fiscal conservatism is right. Magar has spent less than $20,000 on his campaign, which launched last October, and has refused to accept any cash donations exceeding $1,000. “You have to be wise with what the people give,” Magar said. “If you run a campaign that keeps asking for more and more money, then how can the people trust you to not raise taxes over and over again because you have already spent what they have already given you?” Magar continued.

The endorsement of Magar comes on the heels of yet another establishment endorsement of New Iberia attorney and Republican-establishment candidate, Jeff Landry. “He can have all the establishment support and all the big money donors he wants,” Magar said of Landry, “I have the support of the People, and that’s what matters.”
LeBlanc said in the group’s endorsement statement that the membership voted unanimously to “encourage all voters in the Third District to lend their support to Kristian Magar and cast their votes for him in the Republican primary on August 28, 2010, to ‘fundamentally restore our nation’ to its Constitutional principles and values.”

Louisiana AIP Affiliates Endorse Candidate Kristian Magar for LA 3rd District, US Congress

July 14, 2010

To the People of Louisiana,

America's Independent Party Affiliates in Louisiana enthusiastically endorse the 2010 candidacy of Kristian Magar for the United States House of Representatives for the People of our beautiful 3rd District in the State of Louisiana!

Kristian believes, as does our party, that the source of our claim to “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness” is our Creator, God, as stated in the Declaration of Independence and that the rights in our Constitution depend upon those same unalienable rights. Kristian also has the moral vision to recognize that with these rights we have a duty to protect and fight for them if we are to keep them alive and “secure the Blessings of Liberty for ourselves and our Posterity” as stated in the Preamble of the Constitution. Kristian, a devoted family man and hard working, successful oilfield business manager, heard the call to defend his country and is answering that call. As he states, he “is a pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, social and fiscal conservative candidate” and “not a career politician”.

Kristian understands the importance of the freedoms our Constitution gives, such as religious freedom and the right to bear arms. He understands that borders must be protected and our country defended. Kristian has served in the Louisiana Army National Guard where he became an officer and obtained an education in Army values, discipline, and leadership. He understands and has seen firsthand, while working abroad, that a socialized medical system is vastly inferior to what we have enjoyed in the US. He is strongly against any private industry becoming "nationalized".

Kristian believes that the most fundamental of our unalienable God-given rights is the right to Life, and that our government has failed in protecting this right for the millions of innocent children aborted in this country. He realizes the national scandal of legalized abortion and as he states, “we must honor God’s law if we seek his blessing” and that “government’s one true purpose … defined in the Declaration of Independence ... is simply to protect our rights”.

On party status, as stated on his website, "Kristian is running in the Republican primary, but he is an independent thinker who wants voters to evaluate his candidacy based on his positions on the issues as well as his principles and values." Kristian has affiliated with the AIP party. AIP endorses candidates based on principle, not on party.

On the coastal protection and restoration issue, Kristian has listened to State Representatives from the district and a levee board official and has developed a keen insight on the problem. As stated on his web site, “I do not believe that we should have to ask the federal government for permission to protect our coastline. As your representative I will work to remove the barriers of federal bureaucracy that hinders the swift development of coastal restoration projects.”

You can learn more about Kristian and his campaign at: http://www.kristianmagar.com/

For these reasons, and many more, we urge all Louisianians to lend their prayers, time, energy, financial resources, and VOTES to Kristian Magar and his campaign. Do your state, our nation, and our posterity a huge favor by doing your civic duty to help elect Kristian Magar as your US District 3 Representative.

On behalf of the Louisiana Affiliates,

Randal Caffery
Louisiana Coordinator
America's Independent Party
www.selfgovernment.us
www.aipnews.com

Magar Makes It Official: The People Will Have A Choice

BATON ROUGE, LA – Kristian Magar, Ph.D., the Conservative candidate for Congress in Louisiana’s third congressional district, filed official campaign paperwork with the Secretary of States’ Office in Baton Rouge today.
Magar, a Republican whose message resonates strongly among T.E.A. Party members, has been in the race since filing Federal paperwork last October. Using his limited funds he has given the more financially-established candidates a proverbial ‘run for their money’.

Magar said, “Taking large donations from a handful of donors has not been a part of my strategy. It is important for the People of the third congressional district to see that even in politics much can be accomplished with a limited amount of money.” Magar compared his campaign to General Washington’s army that survived the cold winters with few resources.

“Our country is broke. We need representatives who don’t just print ‘conservative’ on their yard signs and then spend other people’s money like they are already in Congress,” Magar said. “We need leaders who know how to make something out of next to nothing. That’s why we are demonstrating fiscal conservatism in this campaign. We must stop training our candidates to be politicians who constantly spend the People’s money and then ask for more, whether it’s through taxes or $500 per plate campaign fundraisers,” Magar said.

Magar has proven himself to be the candidate of the People. “I’m not a career politician. I’m not an attorney. I’m a husband, a father and a businessman. The People deserve a representative who will represent them and not try to rule them. For too many elections the people have been presented not with the best candidate but rather the best candidate big money can buy.” Magar said. “Today, and this fall, the People of the third congressional district finally have a choice.”

David was a boy!

According to the last independent poll we are only 5 points away from making the runoff in the race to represent LA’s 3rd Congressional District. We have accomplished this despite having only spent $12,000, and having no name recognition when we started. This success is a direct result of our supporters’ willingness to spread the word about our campaign through tried and true word of mouth advertising.

When I started this campaign, every politician I spoke to told me the same thing. They said that I could not win, that I did not have the right ‘political’ connections, that I would not have the several hundreds of thousands of dollars it would take to win. They all assumed that I would try to run my campaign like a typical politician. They were wrong. I am not asking for BIG political donations from the party establishment. I reminded them that David was a boy.

David was not a warrior. He could not fit the king’s armor, but with a sling and a smooth stone he struck down a giant. Now, I give new people I meet a marble to remind them of this. (1 Samuel 17)

If you agree with me that big donations from a few political donors is not healthy for our democratic republic then I need your help. I need you to help me prove that we can in fact get our message out without taking large amounts of money from a few big donors.

Will you stand with me as we face off against political giants? We must not be intimidated by the ‘impossible’. Over 230 years ago farmers, merchants and craftsmen did the unthinkable. They did the impossible. They stood firm against a tyrannical king and expelled the greatest military force in the world at that time from this land we call America. Now it is our turn to stand firm against a tyrannical government. Fortunately, we do not have to pick up arms. Our founding fathers left us with more powerful weapons for use against an overreaching government, The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States. These words and an educated and engaged citizenry are all the ammunition we need to restore our nation and our liberties.

As we approach the celebration of our independence, let me close with this question. What are you willing to do to preserve the blessings of liberty?

Will you:

1. Forward this message to your friends and family?
2. Make a commitment to thoroughly research all the candidates and not automatically go with the name you know?
3. Make a small campaign contribution to the candidate of your choice?

I would like to thank you for all your support and encouragement thus far. I especially want to thank those of you who have emailed me to let me know that you continue to pray for me and my family during this campaign. It means a great deal to me especially when I know that we face some serious challenges in our district and our nation. I have no doubt, however, that together we will overcome these obstacles. If we are willing to sacrifice as our forefathers did, America’s best days are still ahead of us.

In liberty,

Kristian Magar, Ph.D.

Candidate for U.S. Congress
Louisiana's 3rd Congressional District

www.kristianmagar.com

P.O. Crowe and John Smith; and State Representatives Frank Hoffmann, Billy Chandler, Jerome Richard and Henry Burns.

Cap-and-trade took its first step toward enactment last year when the U.S. House narrowly passed the Waxman-Markey energy tax bill, which escaped the lower chamber by a scant seven votes despite significant bipartisan opposition. The U.S. Senate has struggled to pass companion legislation, with several key Democratic senators expressing opposition to the energy tax bill.

President Obama has made no secret of his support for the bill, which would be the largest tax increase in American history. The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office has scored the House plan as an $846 billion increase in federal revenue, a burden that will be borne by taxpayers and consumers for decades to come. Recent analysis by the Institute for Energy Research found the Kerry-Lieberman Senate bill would cost the nation more than 500,000 jobs by 2015 and decrease household income by over $1,000 by 2020.

“Using the guise of climate change to transfer dollars from hard-working citizens to bureaucratic big government is unacceptable,” said Kerpen. “Regardless of their stance on global warming, this should be common ground for all of our elected officials at all levels of government.”

The pledge is available online at www.NoClimateTax.com. AFP does not endorse candidates. All elected officials and candidates are encouraged to sign the pledge and go on the record in opposition to using the climate change issue to increase taxes and grow the size of government.
Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is a nationwide organization of citizen leaders committed to advancing every individual’s right to economic freedom and opportunity. AFP believes reducing the size and scope of government is the best way to safeguard individual productivity and prosperity for all Americans. AFP educates and engages citizens in support of restraining state and federal government growth, and returning government to its constitutional limits. AFP has more than one million members, including members in all 50 states, and 30 state chapters and affiliates. More than 60,000 Americans in all 50 states have made a financial investment in AFP or AFP Foundation. Box 9460
New Iberia, LA 70562
(337) 465-4263
June 16, 2010

Dear President Obama,

Despite sustaining several hardships in recent years from hurricanes to the recent oil spill, the residents of Southeast Louisiana remain a resilient and optimistic people. It is our faith in God and our principles and values which guide us in the face of these great challenges. I am writing to you now to ask for your help. Though we may differ significantly on political points of view, now is not the time to play politics. We need action from our leadership.

Your leadership and response to this event have been underwhelming. You have been criticized by many from across the political spectrum for the lack of involvement, specifically in the containment and cleanup effort. I would like to offer you an opportunity to demonstrate true leadership by taking immediate action on the following suggestions:

1. Temporarily suspend the Jones Act to allow international vessels with special equipment and technology to help us skim and remove the oil from the Gulf. It is inconceivable that even now, 50+ days from the Deep Water Horizon incident, we are not using an all hands on deck approach to dealing with this spill.

2. Publicly support modifying the Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act of 2006 to allow the coastal states in the Gulf of Mexico to increase their shares of oil royalties to the previously agreed amount of 37.5% now, as opposed to waiting until 2017. We cannot afford to wait until 2017 to protect and restore our coastline. In your address to the nation you made a commitment to dedicate the resources necessary to restore the unique beauty and bounty of this region. Encourage Congress to act and place action behind these words.

3. Publicly support removing federal barriers to efforts in Louisiana to protect and restore our coastline and marshes. The science behind our land loss has been well understood for decades. What has not been understood, at least by residents, is why it is so difficult to obtain permits and permission from federal bureaucracies like the Corps of Engineers and the Environmental Protection Agency in order to begin restoration projects. Sir, we don’t need more studies. Rather, we need to take action with the knowledge we currently have.

4. Immediately end the moratorium on deep water drilling. Despite the rhetoric that we must put in place regulations that will prevent another disaster like this from ever occurring, this is simply talk. The truth is that there will always be risk involved in offshore oil drilling. Much the same that there is risk in operating a motor vehicle. Being a Certified Safety Professional and a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering, I know that as long as humans are involved no amount of regulation can provide a 100% assurance that a failure will not take place. Rather, we must establish a plan to enforce existing regulations, industry best practices, and place non-biased third parties on all deep water installations to ensure that we minimize the potential risk so that we can maintain safe drilling operations.

Your support for these actions is essential to helping Louisiana’s 3rd District not only protect and restore our coastline, but also enable us to maintain our local and state economy. A failure on your part to act, however, will require us to consider other avenues to secure our future. Although we are an optimistic people we are not incredibly patient. Moreover, as sovereign citizens of the State of Louisiana we reserve our rights defined in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. We will take the actions necessary to protect our state, our livelihoods and our way of life.

I appreciate your consideration of these actions.

Regards,
Kristian Magar, Ph. However this is not becasue we have lost population as some feared following the storms of '05. Our population has recovered from those events. We’ve gone from just a few friends and family as fans on this page, to now over 700! But to be honest, I am never quite sure we are getting the word out fast enough to let people know about our campaign. Then someone contacts me to tell me a story like this: A family member who had campaign magnets on her car went to a local store earlier this week. Walking towards the store she passed a man who was leaving. She noticed that he was looking at her quite intently. To her surprise, he was waiting for her when she came out of the store. He asked her if she knew the man who was on her magnet. So, she explained that she did know him. He wanted to know if I was an attorney. She laughed and said, “Oh, no!” From there, the conversation continued where he shared that he had a friend who heard me speak at the New Iberia Tax Day Rally. His friend had had a favorable impression regarding our message, therefore the man outside the store wanted to know more. Not to worry, folks, my family member was prepared. The gentleman went home with a yard sign and business cards. Plus, he had been instructed to go home and visit the website and Facebook page to find out more. I just want you to know that you are doing this. Through your word of mouth, emails, phone calls and Facebook suggestions, YOU are getting the word out! The money that this would cost through radio, tv, ads, etc would be completely opposite of the words “fiscally responsible”. I am truly grateful for your willingness to participate in this campaign. Please keep up the good work and we will show everyone what is possible when we work together for the common good of our country. Together, we can restore America.

Thomas Jefferson's thoughts on legalese in legislation.

"I should apologize, perhaps, for the style of this bill. This highlights the need to teach from original sources in the classroom."

Dear friends,

Last summer I was compelled to stop talking to the television, get off the couch and take action. The issue that most motivated me to action was healthcare.

In 2007, my family and I had the opportunity to live and work in Trinidad & Tobago. During our time overseas, I observed the poor quality of care, the long wait times and the rationing of care that comes with a government dominated healthcare system. When we first arrived in Trinidad, we were warned by other Americans not to go to the public hospitals or clinics due to the poor quality of care. While on the island I ran an oil and gas service business where I had employees who had to suffer with chronic conditions which are easily remedied in the United States. Therefore, when the president and U.S. Congress began proposing a nationalized healthcare model, I understood from my experience in Trinidad that such a model would be harmful to the future of my family and yours.

It appears our nation is at a crossroad. Our current elected officials may very well pass this legislation through back door and deceptive tactics. However, if I am fortunate enough to be elected later this year as your representative for Louisiana’s 3rd Congressional District, I will do everything in my power to repeal it should it become law. In its place, I would propose and support common sense, free-market based reforms that enable all Americans who want healthcare to be able to purchase it.

I understand that allowing small businesses and individuals to come together to purchase group policies will help lower costs. I realize that allowing individuals and companies to contribute to health savings accounts will improve the portability of insurance policies, enabling people to change jobs without the fear of a lapse in coverage. We can all agree that increasing competition by allowing insurance companies to sell health insurance across state lines will lead to lower premiums for families. These are just a few of the common sense ideas that we can implement without adding one dollar in additional costs to our federal budget.

Thomas Paine reminds us that “Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered”. We must stay the course. We must remain vigilant in fanning the fire of liberty. Paying 10 years of taxes for 6 years of service is not healthcare, that funding abortions with taxpayer money is not healthcare, and piling more debt on future generations is certainly not healthcare. I am asking for your support in the Republican primary election on August 28, 2010. With your help, we can, and we will ‘fundamentally restore America’ to its constitutional foundation.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Campaign Action Requests:

As you know, I am not a politician. I have a job and go to work every day just like you. Therefore, in order to have a successful and fiscally responsible campaign, I need your help in spreading the word about our campaign.

1. Forward this message to your friends, family and co-workers.

2. Join us on Facebook.

3. Turn your next family or neighborhood gathering into a mini-town hall meeting. Let me know and I’ll come to listen to your concerns and to discuss the issues facing our district.

4. Walk your neighborhood sharing our campaign platform with your community. Contact us for campaign literature.

5. Make a small donation of $25 to sponsor a radio advertisement.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Campaign Update:

I was recently quoted in the Daily Iberian where I said “in [my] opinion there are two ways to run a campaign. You can raise and spend a lot of money and try to fool people with who you want them to think you are, or go out and spend your time meeting people and let them see who you really are. Since I have more time than money, that’s what I’ve been doing.”

Here are some of the towns we have recently visited: Houma, Chalmette, Pierre Part, Luling, LaPlace, Convent, Gramercy, Norco, Cut Off, Galliano, Raceland, Morgan City, Patterson, Berwick and New Iberia.

We are currently planning visits to the following parishes in the coming weeks: Terrebonne, Lafourche, and Plaquemines. We will post planned events on Facebook so you can participate. If you would like to host an event, or let me know of a planned event, please contact us at info@kristianmagar.com.

912 Candidate Pledge Letter

You can view my 9-12 Candidate Platform at http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?topic=12934&uid=110731850587#!/topic.php?uid=110731850587&topic=12934.

I need your help to spread the word about our campaign and our commitment to uphold the Constitution.

Thank you,
Kristian

Campaign update

It has been a busy, but productive week. This week Christian G. and I were able to attend the Lafourche Parish Chamber of Commerce meeting in Larose. At that meeting we were able to visit with State Senator Norby Chabert about the importance of coastal restoration. We were also able to meet with business leaders from the area. This week I was also able to visit some business and political leaders in Houma. When I visited with Mr. Gordon Dove, who is a State Representative, I again heard about the importance of coastal restoration to the residents of Terrebonne, Lafourche and Plaquemines Parishes. Tonight, I accepted an invitation from Mr. Irving Boudreaux to attend a dinner with business leaders in Iberia and St. Martin Parishes. I look forward to staying busy through the weekend as we head off to the river parishes to meet with voters in that area.

Immigraion visit to the border

We spent the weekend visiting family in McAllen, TX. The first part of the message was simply that if we wait until we feel worthy before we answer God’s call; we may never get started with doing his work. This was particularly important to me because I can find a number of excuses of why I should not step out of my comfort zone. The second part of the message however, was that doing God’s work is not about being ‘worthy’ but rather, being willing.

Don't ask, don't tell

General Powell reverses his stance and promotes an end to the ‘don't ask, don't tell’ policy in the U.S. military. According to a Heritage Foundation report, “Nearly 85% of the waters surrounding the U.S. – the Atlantic, the Pacific, and the eastern Gulf of Mexico – are off-limits to oil and gas exploration and drilling.” If we were to remove these barriers as well as the barriers which prevent the development of new nuclear facilities we could put Americans to work, move towards energy independence, reduce our trade deficit and stop the transfer of wealth from the United States to the Middle East.

Our nation has experienced unparalleled prosperity for over 200 years. Free markets, free people and a government established on the principles of natural law are responsible for this prosperity. I pray that our next President and next Congress will restore our nation to the principles established in our Constitution.

Right to Life Walk - New Iberia

Last night I attended the Right to Life walk and Mass in New Iberia with several members of my family. My wife, Kyla, and our four children participated, along with my mom, aunts Darla and Ellen, and my cousins, Rebecca and Olivia. I was quite impressed by the size of the crowd. I am not sure how many people were actually there but we filled up St. Peter’s church. After mass, two young ladies spoke about their personal experiences with abortion.

The first nearly had an abortion after being encouraged to do so by her previous boss. Fortunately, she was counseled by people who cared about her and she did not go through with the abortion.

The second, however, was not counseled, and she went through with her abortion. While she was giving her testimony she said something that struck a chord with me. She said that at the time she was considering having the abortion, she had convinced herself that it was legal and therefore acceptable. This statement reminded me of something I had read recently in Frederic Bastiat’s pamphlet “The Law”.

Bastiat states that, “When law and morality contradict each other, the citizen has the cruel alternative of either losing his moral sense or losing his respect for the law. “ Bastiat also states, “There is in all of us a strong disposition to believe that anything lawful is also legitimate. This belief is so widespread that many persons erroneously held that things are ‘just’ because the law makes them so.”

I have had some spirited debates with Kyla over the years on abortion. We are both pro-life but we have approached the issue from different points of view. I have always argued that making abortion illegal will not end abortion, and therefore that should not be the goal. Instead, I have argued that you have to win peoples’ hearts and minds. However, after listening to the young ladies’ testimony yesterday evening and considering Bastiat’s comments on the law it is clearer to me that the mere fact that abortion is ‘legal’ is corrupting minds, bodies, hearts and souls by suggesting to people that abortion is acceptable.

Immigration and Impact on Social Services

Recently, I was discussing immigration policy with a friend and I brought up the issue of anchor babies as well as the impact of illegal immigration on health care. He asked me to research just how big of a problem anchor babies posed to the U.S. healthcare and social services systems. The link below will take you to the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons. There is an article titled Illegal Aliens and American Medicine in Volume 10 Number 1 Spring 2005 which discusses both issues and is worth the time to read. If the current administration is successful in pushing through its healthcare agenda the next topic will most certainly be how to legalize the 20 million non-citizen residents of the U.S.
http://www.jpands.org/jpands1001.htm

Campaign Update

It has been a busy week for the campaign. I attended a function in New Orleans Wednesday evening and had the opportunity to me several political leaders from different areas of the state. On Tuesday and Thursday I met with leaders from the Acadiana/Lafayette Tea Party, The Freedom Forum and The Campaign for Liberty to discuss our campaign and the recall petition for Mary Landrieu. If you are interested in learning more about this petition you can go to www.moveonmary.org. Last night, Travis Taylor and I attended a seminar put on by GOPAC in Baton Rouge discussing identifying candidates and some basic campaign strategies. Today, I will be headed back to Baton Rouge for the Republican Party State Central Committee meeting. From there we will be headed to Chalmette for a meeting with some potential voters. As you can tell our campaign is picking up momentum. The website hits continue to increase each month. I appreciate all of the support and especially the prayers so far. Please continue to spread the word. In the next couple of weeks we will be looking to create an organization of volunteers in each of our District’s Parishes. If you are interested in helping please send me your email address, phone number and the name of the Parish you live in to klm@kristianmagar.com. Also if you know people who would be interested in helping please contact them and ask them to email me. We will win this election and restore our nation to its original intent, if we come together and do the work. I’ve already met with business and political leaders from all over the district. As we go into 2010, there will be much work to do: phone calls to make, neighborhoods to canvass, etc. We are going to maintain a simple, efficient and effective campaign strategy.

I’d like each of you to set a goal of talking to 20 people about the campaign this month. Right now, on Facebook, we’re 1 fan away from reaching 300! Let’s all work together in achieving the goal of 500 fans by the end of January.

Enjoy the day with your friends and family. I am excited about the prospects of a new year and I hope that you will continue to work with me to be a part of the solution in restoring our national values.

What else are we being misled about?

If you get your news from one of the major “news” networks, you may have missed one of the most important stories of the last 20 years. A brave, unidentified individual published emails from scientists who participated in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). These emails reveal a deliberate attempt to suppress dissenting views on global warming and climate change. They also illustrate a blatant disregard for the scientific process by modifying data to fit an agenda. To those who have long suspected a conspiracy to defraud the American people about global warming and climate change, this is the smoking gun.

If you wonder how something like this can happen, it’s not that complicated. The IPCC and the scientists, which belong to the IPCC, were sponsored and funded at least in part by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). If you follow the money, I am sure you will find that scientists who produced results in support of the UNEP agenda received more funding than those who produced results, which did not support the agenda. In fact, the emails released show that the scientists in support of the global warming theory attempted to restrict the publication of differing views through the peer review process. As such, a few individuals were able to squash the debate, and this allowed people like former Vice President Gore to go around saying that, “the science is settled.”

Given these recent revelations on the global warming and climate change science, I can’t help but to wonder what else are we being misled about?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Wt0ZaXu_CA

Healthcare Clears First Senate Hurdle

Tonight I finally got around to watching some of the WWII in HD episodes airing on The History Channel. I could not help but be inspired by the courage, conviction & willingness of this generation to die in order to preserve freedom. And so it’s disheartening to watch our politicians give away the freedoms that have been paid for in blood one bill at a time.

Senator Landrieu, despite everyone I know sending her correspondence to the contrary, has voted in favor of opening the debate for the health care bill in the U.S. Senate. I realize she’s not going to vote in favor of the final version of the bill, so that she can say that she voted against it. But we’re not fooled. The fact that the bill has crossed this initial hurdle allows the final bill to pass with only 51 votes. But rest assured, she got her promise of $100 million for disaster recovery. This money may help Louisiana families in the short term, but the health care package as proposed will do more harm than good in the long term. This epitomizes everything that’s wrong with Washington, D.C.

This past week I spoke briefly at a meeting of the Concerned Citizens for Freedom. The people I met in this meeting were just like you and I. They’re frustrated and in many ways feel helpless against an overreaching and free-spending federal government. I found encouragement, however, in speaking with the group’s members. I know it often feels like we’re alone in our feelings, but we’re not. We need to reach out to one another so that we can come together in order to have our collective voices heard. I encourage you to participate in any way possible, such as tea parties, 9-12 project, citizens groups, volunteering for and supporting candidates who will support the Constitution, or consider running for public office yourself.

Remember, "All that is necessary for the forces of evil to win in the world is for enough good men to do nothing." ~Edmond Burke

Veteran's Day

To my fellow veterans, thank you for your service, and happy Veteran's Day. However, it did not pass on its own merits; rather it was attached to the Defense Appropriations because the sponsors of the hate crime amendments knew that most senators would be reluctant to vote against a bill that supplies our military with necessary resources. The hate crimes amendment sponsors knew that senators who did not vote for the appropriations bill would have to defend themselves from accusations that they did not vote to not fund the troops. This is simply a game to career politicians and worse, this type of action is not new; in fact it occurs all too often. Please don’t kid yourself by thinking it is one particular political party or the other. This tactic is employed by both major parties. And it highlights what is wrong in Washington D.C. today.

Bills should contain only one topic. The idea proposed should be voted on and either passed into law or rejected based on its own merits following an open and honest debate. As your representative one of the first pieces of legislation that I will sponsor will be a bill to ensure that all legislation introduced be required to pertain to only one topic. We can do better, but we have to change who is representing us. If we don’t want 1400 page bills written in vague legal terms with endless unrelated amendments then we can’t continue to vote for career politicians who return political favors with sweetheart earmark projects. We need to support candidates who are “everyday people”. This is why I have decided to run for Congress, to give the citizens in Louisiana’s 3rd Congressional District a choice. Please visit my website www.kristianmagar.com for more information on where I stand on the issues.

Please consider being a part of our campaign by sharing my facebook page with your friends. Please also send out my campaign website to your friends and family. Thank you for all the help and encouragement so far. It is appreciated.

Regards,
KM

Businessman will run for Melancon's seat

http://www.houmatoday.com/article/20091019/ARTICLES/910199972

It is hard to influence someone when you owe them money

When you are indebted to someone and they do not support your policy (in this case sanctions on Iran) it is very hard to ask them to reconsider their decision. I am certain that some commentators will ask what this means in terms of President Obama’s ability to lead. They will probably say that this is a big blow to the President’s perceived influence. Here is my question. Why was the President so focused on this in the first place?

Here at home we have politicians creating out of control deficits and debt, which will burden our future generations, perhaps to the point of bankruptcy. Unemployment has reached 9.8% nationally. Heath care is far from being resolved. The U.S. House of Representatives passed a climate change bill that is going hurt American businesses and consumers. We have General McCrystal asking for more troops in Afghanistan, and now the President wants to rethink his entire strategy.

Iran has built a nuclear enrichment site right under our noses. (Although, I am sure that if President Obama meets directly with President Ahmadinejad he will be able to convince Iran’s President that his pursuit to obtain nuclear weapons is ill advised. There is no doubt in my mind that President Ahmadinejad will take back everything he has said regarding the intent to annihilate Israel.) You know things are going awry when the French President takes a stronger stand against tyranny than the American President.

We have cancelled our plans for a missile defense system, which has infuriated our allies in Eastern Europe. (Who cares if it didn’t work, neither did “Star Wars”, but the Russians didn’t know that. You never give something up in a negotiation without getting something in return.)

All of this is unbelievable to me. To be honest, I am not sure what to make of all this. Are the French right when they say that President Obama is simply naïve? Is he really too arrogant to listen and accept the fact that he can’t simply use his self-perceived charisma to influence other world leaders? On the other hand, is it possible he knows exactly what he is doing? Either way, it is not good for the United States of America.

You Lie

“You lie!”

Last night during the President’s address on healthcare to Congress, Rep. Joe Wilson let his emotions get the better of him when he released an outburst simply stating, “You lie!” You may agree or disagree with his statement, but it was not an appropriate setting for such a statement. Rep. Wilson has acknowledged as much and has apologized.

Today, in the news cycle and around the water cooler the discussion centered on Rep. Wilson and the fallout following his comment. There are those who are appalled that a U.S. Representative would make such a statement during a Presidential address. However, is this any more or less appalling than when Democrats booed President Bush during a similar address on Feb 2, 2005?
Of course, this kind of back and forth between the two parties is exactly the kind of nonsense the media and politicians have fed us for years. It is a game. Both sides simply want to damage the other so that they can gain more power and influence in the next election cycle. Do not get caught up in emotions and distracted by this nonsense.

We should focus on more important issues and questions concerning the healthcare debate. For example:

How are we going to expand coverage without adding costs to the deficit?

If we can extract hundreds of billions in savings from Medicare and Medicaid by weeding out fraud and corruption, why are we not doing it now?

Why do we need a reform bill to fix problems in an existing government run system?

If illegal aliens are not going to be eligible for healthcare coverage under the current bills, why were amendments to the bills requiring verification of citizenship defeated in committee?

If the current bills do not sponsor government sponsored abortions, why then were amendments to the bills stating the same defeated in committee?

If healthcare reform is so urgent, why will a government option not take affect for four years?

If a government-run option is best, why can no one point to a single country who has such a system where they do not ration medicine and or care?

Why is Congress excluded from the proposed government run option?

Why is the President only willing to conduct a pilot program for medical liability reform?

We already have a test case. The State of Texas enacted reforms in 2003. As a result of those reforms they saw an increase in doctors and insurance providers as well as a decrease in medical malpractice premiums.

These are just a few of the questions I believe need answers as Congress resumes. However, if history is any indication of the future, I am doubtful that we will any real and honest debate on these issues. Instead, we will likely get more finger pointing, exaggerations and name calling by members of both parties. We will get more bills written by lobbyists with preferential treatment provided to a select few organizations and big businesses.

We have to break this cycle. I am hopeful that people across the nation who consider themselves Americans first will step out and run for federal office. We need people who are not tied to partisan networks and funding. I will be launching my official campaign website soon with some specific ideas on not only healthcare but also other issues that are important to all of us in Louisiana’s 3rd Congressional District. I ask that you continue to support me in this endeavor. In return for your support, I promise to listen to your views, stay away from the “politics as usual”, and to work diligently towards enacting ideas and policies that benefit our current and future generations.
